Plakias is a small village with 150 residents, 38 kilometers north-west of Rethimno City. It is picturesque tourist resort which combines sea and verdurous mountains. Across the sea from there visitors can see the southern-most part of Europe, the Island of Gavdos. During all year, visitors can see the snow-white peaks of the Cretan mountains, which are so white that they became known as "Lefka Ori" which in Greek means White Mountains. |
