Agia Triada was first investigated in 1902, in the course of excavations at the neighbouring site of Phaestos. Systematic excavations were begun in 1903 and completed in 1914. The archaeologic place, which is situated 3 kilometers from Phaestos, has three principal parts: The royal villa, The settlement and "Agora". Visitors can also see the Byzantine church of St. George Galatas which is decorated with splendid wall-paintings. |
