Troodos Forest has been declared a National Forest Park. Cavo Gkreko and Potamos tou Liopetriou were also declared National Forests Parks. The Athalassa National Forest Park is situated near Lefkosia and covers an area of 840 ha. One Forest National Reserve has already be established at Tripilos, Mavroi Kremmoi, which includes the Cedar Valley.    

Akamas peninsula, the northwestern most tip in Cyprus, is to become a National Park to protect one of the most important national habitants for several species of fauna and flora unique in the Mediterranean.

Areas under study for ecological conservation are the Larnaka Salt Lake, the Platys Valley, Akrotiri Salt Lake and Phassouri Marsh in Lemesos district.

The various nautical clubs in Cyprus with the exception of the Lefkosia nautical club are  responsible for all sports and competitions concerning sea sports, such as swimming, sailing, etc.

After the military occupation by the Turkish invasion forces in 1974, of Ammochostos and     Kyreneia towns, the Nautical Clubs of these where transferred to Lemesos.
