Lassithi is the fourth prefecture of Crete, on the east part of the island, covering an area of 1,818 sq.km. It is filled with long sandy beaches, small isles scattered around the blue waters and green valleys with small villages and warm colours.Due to its all-year round mild climate and excellent beaches this prefecture contains some of the best resorts on the island.

BEACH OF ALMIROS

Almiros is only 3km outside Agios Nikolaos.The sources of Almiros river spring from rushes and cane creating a sandy beach with shallow water.

BEACH OF AKTI NEARCHOU

Beach of Akti Nearchou is one of the nearest beaches from the city of Ag.Nikolaos.This beach is ideal for water sports and is full of shopping centers and restaurants.

BEACH OF HAVANIA

On the coast road to Elounda, you can see the well organized beach of Havania.Wonderful sandy beach for swimming, sunbathing and sports.

BEACH OF ISTRON

Istron is 9km outside Agios Nikolaos,in the direction of Sitia.There are many beautiful beaches including the famous" Golden Beach".

BEACH OF ELOUNDA

Elounda is situated 11km north of Ag.Nikolaos and has beautiful rocky coastlines.The area is full of luxurious hotels and develops rapidly.

SPINALONGA ISLAND

Daily boat trips from:Elounda, Agios Nikolaos and Plaka.Many tourists visit the island where they can feel that they are in another world, half Venetian, half leper colony.

BEACH OF MILATOS

Milatos is a small village with traditional Greek lifestyle 25 km northwest of Agios Nikolaos.There is a sandy beach with deep blue water.

BEACH OF IERAPETRA

Ierapetra which is 36km south of Agios Nikolaos is the southern town in Europe.It has hotels of every class as well as rooms to rent, all kinds of restaurants, shops, nightlife in its clubs, sandy beaches outside the town and picturesque coastal villages with their beautiful little bays and peaceful beaches.

CHRISSI ISLAND

Also called "Golden Island".No further than 15 km from the coast of Ierapetra,you can find this tropical island.Its beautiful beaches and the clear water make it a paradise.Daily boat trips from the port at 10:00.

BEACH OF FERMA

East of Ierapetra, a coastal road leads you to the eastern districts of Lassithi.In a distance of 10,5km from Ierapetra there is the coastal village of Ferma with modern hotel units in an idyllic site amid dense olive groves and a large beach with grey, thick-grained sand.

BEACH OF AGIA FOTIA

Agia Fotia , a settlement 13,5km east of Ierapetra on a gorgeous beach. It is one of the most beautiful spots in the Prefecture in a lush, green valley full of olive and pine trees with a sandy bay.

BEACH OF MAKRIS GIALOS

Makrigialos is 25 km east from Ierapetra.The beach is very beautiful and is full of Minoan buildings.

BEACH OF SITIA

Sitia is 70km east of Agios Nikolaos.It is one of the loveliest towns in Crete, built amphitheatrically.Along its beautiful strand line with tree heather there are still traditimal shops next to modern ones.East and north of the town there are beaches for swimming.

BEACH OF ITANOS

22 km northeast of Sitia is situated the area of Itanos.Here the natural beauty is combined with the ancient history.

BEACH OF KOUREMENOS

23 km east of Sitia, on your road to Vai is situated the beach of Kouremenos.This large sandy beach is one of the best places in Europe for windsurfing.

Hiona is 26 km east of Sitia.Here you can find a composition of ancient history and nature.The sandy beach is an ideal place for all the family.

BEACH OF VAI

Vai is 25 km east of Sitia and is famous for its palm forest, which is the only one in all Europe.This is a fabulous site with 5,000 palm trees and a large, sparkling clean sandy beach which is unique in Greece.

35 km east of Sitia is one of the most richest,archaeologically, areas in Crete where you can find marvellous beaches .This beach offers you a peaceful place for relaxing.

46,5 km southeast of Sitia, you can see the settlement of Kato Zakros and the archeological site of Zakros( Minoan Palace).Here you can find a sandy,small,peaceful bay.

BEACH OF KSEROKAMPOS

55,5 km southeast of Sitia(9 km away from KatoZakros) are the beaches of Kserokampos, which are some of the most beautiful, unspoiled beaches of eastern Crete.
